What kinds of electrical work does Music City Electrical do?

We handle repairs, panel upgrades, rewiring, new circuits, lighting, ceiling fans, outdoor lighting, EV chargers, generators, surge protection, smart-home wiring, safety inspections and commercial electrical work, plus emergency service.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. Call 615-357-7797 or send us a message and we will set up a free estimate. For simple jobs we can often give you an idea over the phone, and for bigger ones we visit and look at the work.

Are your electricians licensed and insured?

Our electricians are licensed, bonded and insured. Ask us for details about our credentials when you call.

Do you handle emergencies?

Yes. If you have an outage, a breaker that will not reset, a hot outlet or storm damage, call 615-357-7797. If you see fire, smoke or sparks, or someone is hurt, leave the area and call 911 first.

Do I need a permit for electrical work?

Many electrical projects, such as panel upgrades, new circuits and generators, require a permit and an inspection. We follow the local requirements for your address and explain what applies to your project.

How do I know if my panel needs to be upgraded?

Common signs are frequent tripping, a full panel, lights that dim under load, burn marks or plans for a big new load such as an EV charger or hot tub. Our free Panel Load Estimator gives you a starting point, and an electrician confirms it.

Can you work in my business without closing?

Often, yes. We can schedule work after hours or in phases so your business stays open.

Where do you work?

Music City Electrical serves 22 Middle Tennessee cities, including Nashville, Franklin, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, Hendersonville and Spring Hill. Browse the service areas page or call us to confirm your address.

How do I get started?

Call 615-357-7797 or use the form on this page to book a free estimate. You can also try our free electrical tools before we meet.

What is the difference between a breaker and a fuse?

Both interrupt a circuit when it carries too much current. A breaker can be reset, while a fuse must be replaced. Many older homes have fuse boxes that are worth replacing with modern panels.

What is a GFCI outlet and where do I need one?

A GFCI outlet cuts power quickly if it detects current leaking to ground, which protects you from shock. They are used in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, basements and outdoors, where water may be present.

What is an AFCI breaker?

An arc-fault circuit interrupter detects dangerous arcing in a circuit and shuts it off, which helps reduce fire risk. Many newer homes use AFCI protection in bedrooms and living areas.

Why do my lights dim when the air conditioner starts?

A brief dim can be normal, because large motors draw a surge of current when they start. A big or repeated dip may point to a loose connection or an overloaded circuit, and is worth having checked.

How long does a panel upgrade take?

Many panel upgrades take about a day, plus time for utility coordination and inspection. We explain the schedule and any outage time before we start.

Can you install an EV charger in my garage?

Yes. We install Level 2 chargers and 240-volt outlets after checking your panel capacity. See the EV Charger Planner for a quick estimate.

Do you offer payment options?

Ask us about payment options for your project. Our Budget & Payment Planner shows a simple planning example, which is not a quote or a credit offer.

Is it safe to use extension cords permanently?

Extension cords are meant for temporary use. If you rely on them, you probably need more outlets or a new circuit, and we can add them.
